Première Vision Acquires Direction,
The Leading American Textile Design Show
August 12, 2008 - Première Vision Inc., New York subsidiary of Première Vision SA, proudly announces the acquisition of Direction, the international textile design show and North American market leader. Direction joins the cadre of Première Vision’s prestigious shows - Première Vision, Expofil, Indigo, Denim by Première Vision and a joint venture with Tarsus - ModAmont. The acquisition, effective September 1, 2008, bolsters Première Vision’s expansion into key sectors of the international textile design, yarns, fabrics, accessories, trimmings and fashion markets.
Direction launched in 2002 following the merger of Inprints NY and English Accents, two well-established textile design events in the American market. Under the leadership of its producer, Lisa Mainardi, Direction rapidly became the leading show in North America for the apparel and home markets. With three editions each year - January, April and August - in the heart of the New York garment district, Direction is the must-see event for designers and decision-makers from the most creative brands and influential companies in the United States and Canada. The January and August events showcase about 150 international exhibitors and attract more
than 2,600 visitors at each show.
By its acquisition of Direction, Première Vision SA increases the global leadership of its Indigo brand in textile design by assuring a direct presence in the American market.
Direction exhibitors benefit from the collective reputation, powerful positioning, increased brand identity, efficiency and expanded services which characterize Première Vision events as well as the synergy of Première Vision Preview New York. Lisa Mainardi, whose impressive business acumen that led to Direction’s dominant market position, continues to lead the show alongside the Indigo team, ensuring its continued, accelerated growth.
Première Vision runs 18 exhibitions worldwide each year, independently or in partnership. More than 3,100 exhibitors welcome 120,000 professional visitors from all over the world. Première Vision Preview New York, the textile workshop and show held twice a year, has successfully concluded its 17th edition in July 2008.
Additionally, Indigo, produced by Première Vision SA, is the world’s leading show for textile design, bringing together 470 exhibitors and more than 34,000 international attendees each year. Indigo’s fashion edition is held twice a year in February and September in Paris, under the Première Vision Pluriel umbrella, and in September for its home edition alongside Decosit Brussels.
DIRECTION by Indigo, held two times a year in January and August at the Penn Plaza Pavilion, is centrally located across the street from Pennsylvania Station New York with convenient street-level access.
