Beautyworld 2010 - Concept, News & Highlights

Beautyworld 2010Beautyworld, the number one industry meeting place for all beauty service providers and retailers, will herald the start of the new business year with a new concept and optimised scheduling. From 30 January to 1 February, the International Trade Fair for Perfumery, Toiletries and Cosmetics, will be buying into the motto ‘Follow the trends’. “The mix of exhibition, lecture platform featuring industry experts and trend shows on anti-aging, natural cosmetics and wellness and spa is designed to promote effective communications between beauty experts”, explains Eva Olbrich, Director of Beauty Fairs in Frankfurt. This will enable retailers and manufacturers to jointly exploit the opportunities provided by the crisis. After all, new market strategies and real innovations in the beauty sector are important, particularly at this point in time, in order to target customers and their individual needs precisely, Elmar Keldenich, Managing Director of the German Perfumery Association (Bundesverband Parfümerien e.V.) said.

In future, in order to appeal to distinct target groups and facilitate orientation at the fair, the entire world of beauty will be divided into product areas focusing on service, retailing and direct sales. Well-known companies like Beauty Brands International, Annemarie Börlind, Top Team and Becker Manicure will be among the exhibitors. The Treffina company is an extremely loyal, constant exhibitor having been a participant since the trade fair was first launched in Frankfurt 50 years ago.

Beauty_at_Work (Hall 1.2): Here importance is attached to beauty services. Operators of beauty salons, day spas and wellness oases can expect an energetic mix of product and trend show, information and application, inspiration and action. The theme areas “Anti Aging Forum”, “Natural Cosmetics” and “Wellness & Spa” ensure this.

Beauty_at_Business (Halls 1.1 and 1.2) stands for a modern, internationally orientated business platform for the entire perfumery, toiletries and cosmetics segment. Here, the spotlight will be on making new contacts and exchanging information and know-how at the highest level, in a sophisticated atmosphere. Special B2B meetings promote international business success.

New sales will be taking place in Hall 5.0 on two fair days, on 31 January and 1 February, bundled together with Hair and Beauty. “This short-term concept change for 2010 will maximise the synergic effects of the two theme-related fairs Beautyworld and Hair and Beauty”, Olbrich explains. On sale will be products and innovations from the beauty segment (cosmetics, fragrances, accessories and fashion goods) and from the hairdressing supplier segment (hair cosmetics, accessories and equipment).

Competence Center with prospects for the future
On the Competence Center lecture stage in Hall 1.2, experts will be passing on their know-how and a host of tips for their everyday activities to beauticians and trade/wholesale buyers. Whether natural cosmetics, wellness & spa, current demands on perfumeries and beauticians or the top trend theme, anti-aging, the full range of Beautyworld segments will be communicated in the form of lectures, round table debates, interviews, best practice models and make-up workshops. Presenter Felix Nottensteiner will guide through the colourful programme of current trends.

High-class speakers will include Ingrid M. Breyer (Thalasso & Spa Consulting), Knuth Arndt (beautyjobagent.de), Rainer Hornbostel (van Berg GmbH), Christian Waas (Christian Waas Marketing Kommunikation), Friedrich-Robert Pitts (académie scientifique de beauté), Hannes Friedl (Homini Coaching), Elfriede Dambacher (Naturkosmetikkonzepte), Inga-Maren Risop (Juvena). The Competence Center programme is constantly updated at www.beautyworld.messefrankfurt.com.

All three fair days will end in style with on-stage action and movement. ‘Live on stage’ illustrates what is possible in the world of beauty. The Famous Face Academy/Make-up Artist will be staging a styling show. Make-up artist and beautician Beni Durrer and the Mask Academy Cologne, school for make-up artists, will be holding two make-up workshops.

Among the product groups are Cosmetics & Fragance, Wellness & Spa, Medical Health, Nature & Care and Accessories & Fashion.

Special presentation areas
High-end products and treatment concepts related to the most important trend theme of all, anti-aging, will be on display in the exclusively designed exhibitor area, “Anti Aging Forum”. New, smaller suppliers will find their ideal presentation environment here for, with its preferential offer, the Anti Aging Forum, the fair management has created an alternative show, which takes account of current cost-cutting measures in the market. Members of the trade public interested in the trend theme will find more quickly and in a concise form, the business contacts and information they want, together with a full product overview. At the same time this enables participating companies to appeal specifically to the customer groups of importance to them.

Within the framework of a special show, Beautyworld offers a first look at the “Duftstars 2010”. The Fragrance Foundation Deutschland, of which Messe Frankfurt is a member, presents the annual “Deutscher Parfumpreis” (German Perfume Award). The prize is based on America’s FiFi Awards. Like the Oscars, which honour major achievements in the film industry, the Duftstars honour services to the perfume industry. The coveted trophy has been awarded in Germany since 1993 and has inspired a variety of initiatives, which bring the cultural value of perfume to a wide audience. Those nominated in the Newcomer (Exclusive, Prestige, Lifestyle), Classic and Public Prize categories will be on show at Beautyworld to start with. The Gala Awards Ceremony will follow in spring 2010.
