The New Munich Trade Fair is gearing up to welcome the international watch and jewelry industry at the 36th inhorgenta europe, held from February 20th to 23rd, 2009.
The current level of registrations promises another strong trade show in 2009. To date, close to 1,200 exhibitors from 47 countries have confirmed their participation. The organizers expect approximately 30,000 industry visitors, similar to the event in prior years. 64,500 square meters of exhibition space in six halls will host the first jewelry and watch industry show of the year 2009, chock-full of new collections, new brands and new skills, all revolving around watches, jewelry, gemstones, pearls, and technology.
A trend, which will find its continuation at inhorgenta europe 2009, is the increasing international character of the trade show. The trade show management and its global network of foreign representatives have been working hard to exceed the record of 9,547 foreign visitors set at the 2007 event. In addition to the most important growth markets in Eastern Europe and the Balkan, inhorgenta europe has focused on the Asian markets during the last few months. By collaborating with HKJMA, the Hong Kong Jewellery Manufacturers Association, Armin Wittmann, Project Manager inhorgenta europe, hopes to further endorse the participation of exhibitors and visitors from these regions. In terms of numbers, Hong Kong and China are already among the strongest exhibitor countries at inhorgenta Europe, in addition to Italy, Great Britain, Austria, and Spain. Approximately 40 Chinese manufacturers exhibited their products at the last inhorgenta europe.
In 2009 a special focus will be on watches. Watch exhibition hall A1 will once again be proof of inhorgenta europe’s outstanding competence in the high volume market of fashion and lifestyle watches. Trendy brand names will be on display, as well as watches by classic manufacturers from all over the world. The central highlight at this hall is the “Brand Avenue” with presentations by brands such as Casio, Breil, Sector, Fossil, Jacques Lemans or Elysee. A 2 new program feature: the “Forum German Zeitgeist” was designed specifically for manufacturers of mechanical watches. “In addition to the large and well-known luxury brands Germany also boasts a very distinguished guild of smaller watch manufacturers,” explains Armin Wittmann, Project Manager inhorgenta europe. “We want to offer them an opportunity to present themselves in a professional environment right next to the big names in the industry.”
In the area of jewelry design and designer jewelry the competence of inhorgenta europe is unmatched throughout the world. More than 300 exhibitors will present their virtually boundless creativity and innovative material variety in hall C2. 10,000 square meters of exhibition space will host popular brands right next to young designer labels, unconventional jewelry designers and internationally leading arts and crafts companies. Visitors can expect probably the world’s most comprehensive representation of modern jewelry design. Add to this jewelry creations by renowned exhibitors such as Damiani, Schoeffel, Atelier Bunz and Frey Wille, in hall B1 to round out the extensive selection. A special highlight at the 2009 event: Thomas Sabo Co. will celebrate its 25th anniversary at inhorgenta europe, and plans to surprise the visiting professionals with a number of special features.
Last year’s visitor magnet: C1, the gemstone and pearl exhibition hall. At the last inhorgenta europe, the trade show management opted to bundle the entire selection of gemstone and pearl suppliers together to simplify access to this segment for exhibitors and visitors with a special interest in gemstones and pearls. This new concept, which was very well received, will be further enhanced at the upcoming event with an exhibition of the most significant works of Bernd Munsteiner, as well as a special presentation with gemstone creations by leading jewelry institutes.
As shown by registration data, the subject of technology continues to play an important role at inhorgenta europe. A number of specialists from all over the world will once again present their products at the 2009 event. Industry professionals will find out the latest on new machinery and tools, new display and packaging concepts, as well as new technology for jewelry and watch production. This segment in particular is where inhorgenta europe lives up to its reputation as market place of ideas and information exchange – an important aspect of merchandising, which an increasing number of exhibitors and visitors appreciate and take advantage of.
For the last ten years the trade show management has endorsed the next generation of jewelry designers with its inhorgenta europe Innovation Awards for extraordinary and groundbreaking jewelry design. The creations honored with this award, one of the industry’s most 3 respected prizes since its inception, will be presented in a special exhibition at the “Designer’s Avenue” in hall C2. The newcomer forum “Brand New – New Brand“, a presentation platform for graduates of national and international design institutes, and the Forum Innovation, where young jewelry designers and goldsmiths are invited to exhibit their creations, provide extensive opportunities for the young, up- and coming talents of tomorrow at the inhorgenta europe 2009.
Platinum has been a strong segment at inhorgenta europe for many years. The Platinum Forum at the Munich-based trade show has a very good reputation and is considered a unique platform for the most exclusive among precious metals. More than 20 exhibitors, among them resounding names such as Schaffrath Brothers, Henrich & Denzel, and H.D. Krieger, will exhibit their products in hall B1 at the 2009 Platinum Forum, and will provide buyers with a welcome orientation for the upcoming season. Newcomers to the platinum scene will also have a chance to distinguish themselves at the upcoming inhorgenta europe. The internationally renowned Innovation Awards will include a winner in the category “Platinum”.
In addition to the latest collections and industry trends inhorgenta europe 2009 will also provide retailers with a multi-faceted side event program. Visitors will enjoy trade seminars, panel discussions with high-caliber participants, and informative special exhibitions – a must for any member of the trade.
