artbrussels 2009
The 27th edition of artbrussels will be held from 24 to 27 April 2009. During the previous edition, 32,851 visitors from the international art world made their way to Europe’s foremost cutting-edge art fair.
Galleries
artbrussels will feature 180 art galleries that have been carefully selected by the international selection committee. One-third of the participants are from Belgium,
the rest are from Europe or the rest of the world. The list of participating galleries
will be available on the website www.artbrussels.be from January.
Profile
artbrussels has a young image, due to the great number of works by promising
young artists from a variety of countries that is exhibited alongside work by
established names. This formula attracts an audience of art enthusiasts as well
as being interesting for museum directors, art critics and collectors who come to
the fair to spot the new trends in the international art world.
Specialised zones
artbrussels is subdivided into three specialised zones:
• Art Galleries: established galleries;
• Young Talent: galleries that primarily promote up-and-coming, innovative artists;
• First Call: Young, up-and-coming galleries that have been invited by artbrussels' collectors committee.
OFF-programme and debates
The 27th edition of artbrussels will once more present an OFF-programme with
international exhibitions in Belgian museums and visits to private collections.
For the third time, artbrussels will provide a platform inside the fair that will allow
a number of selected artists to create a work of art for the fair.
Debates with leading figures from the international art world will once more be
included in the programme.
