2011 dates announced for Reykjavik Fashion Festival |
 Reykjavik, Dec. 2010 – United by a common passion for Iceland and it's unique take on fashion, design and music, Iceland's foremost creative business leaders will host the second annual Reykjavik Fashion Festival, March 31st – April 3rd 2011, at the Reykjavik Art Museum, in downtown Reykjavik, Iceland.
 Showcasing Fall and Winter collections from top emerging talent, the Reykjavik Fashion Festival was established in 2009 to highlight the city’s most provocative and skilled designers amid an explosive mix of music and fashion design. “Our goal is to channel Iceland's creative energy into a single event, where both local and international media, buyers and guests can have a first look at Iceland’s distinctive approach to fashion and style,” said Ingibjörg Finnbogadóttir, Managing Director of the RFF. “We know that outsiders are often surprised to hear of Iceland’s bold fashion sense, but we also know that once people visit the country, they can see that it is a magical environment fostering fantastic fashion design and nightlife, and that is what RFF 2 will illustrate.”
Last year’s inaugural event took place March 18th-21st 2010, drawing nearly 500 visiting attendees and contributing significant economic activity and visitor spending. This year’s 2011 RFF will accommodate more then 800 guests on 15 different runways and will include presentations, hosting events, and entertainment throughout the city of Reykjavik.

Presented by Icelandair, Elite Iceland, Maybelline, Smirnoff, CCP Games, Icelandic Glacial and the Icelandic travel embassy, Islandsstofa, in partnership with Designers March, the second Reykjavik Fashion Festival, will implementtechnical and organizational enhancements, adding new capabilities for lighting,staging and design, as well and a several new staff and team additions, to ensure coordinated and efficient shows and events for attending visitors. The local market has become a melting pot of exciting new creative enterprises, with individuals seeking to expand their businesses overseas. However despite this desire, these businesses have often been unable to fulfill their potential as a result of limited marketing budgets and the lack of a common creative vehicle.
