AUSTRIAN FASHION WEEK 2005

Unit F, the Vienna association for contemporary fashion presents the Austrian Fashion Week from September 16-24, 2005 for the fourth time and enhances the awareness for contemporary fashion in the up-and-coming fashion metropolis Vienna further more.
As in the previous editions the Fashion Week will show a comprehensive and diversified program again this year. Besides the presentation of the Austrian Fashion Awards – which rank among the most important and best-paid prizes in the whole European design field with an over-all donation of over Euro 40.000.- – this event will show a profile of successful fashion designers from Austria as well as of selected designers from Central and Eastern Europe.
Unit F will turn this year’s Austrian Fashion Week into a fashion festival with outstanding Austrian designers and a more international orientation with great cooperation partners (Austrian Federal Chancellery/Art Section, Office for Cultural Affairs of the City Vienna, UO Ottakringer, departure wirtschaft, kunst und kultur GmbH, Erste Bank, Absolut Vodka, Tanzquartier Wien, Kunsthalle Wien).

The kick-off for the Austrian Fashion Week 2005 will present the program of a week filled with pure fashion as well as the new Vienna City Guide which is produced by Unit F in cooperation with the Vienna Tourist Board and departure wirtschaft, kunst und kultur GmbH. (by invitation only.)
Tuesday 20.09. & Wednesday 21. 09.2005, 8:30pm: Dresscode
Tanzquartier Wien, MuseumsQuartier, Halle G Dresscode is the result of a first collaboration of Tanzquartier Wien, the Viennese platform for contemporary dance, and Unit F. Four teams have been built consisting of choreographers und fashion designers or fashion teams who continue the discourse about body and clothing on an interdisciplinary level. The French choreographer Anne Juren joined with the designer duo Hartmann Nordenholz and designer Eva Blut as well as choreographer Philipp Gehmacher with fashion designer flor de illusion/Wolfgang Langeder, Austrian-French performance-collective SUPERAMAS with Mel Merio, Hartmann Nordenholz, Claudia Rosa Lukas and artist (fine arts) Ines Doujak.
Ines Doujak has developed the over-all concept in close collaboration with all participants for this evening. The program will be non-linear, in a form of installation und definitely explosive.

Thursday, 22.09.2005, 8:30pm: Departure Fashion Night
Kunsthalle Wien, MuseumsQuartier Shows of Austrian fashion designers supported by departure wirtschaft, kunst und kultur GmbH such as Wendy&Jim, __fabrics interseason and Petar Petrov will be presented in the Departure Fashion Night.

Friday, 23.09.2005, 8:30: Erste Bank Fashion Night

Like last year this unique fashion night is under the patronage of Erste Bank again.
Fashion designers from Central and Eastern Europe are invited to show their recent collection.

Fashion Awards
Unit F assigns the three Austrian Fashion Awards already for the sixth time. The awards are donated by the Austrian Federal Chancellery, the Office for Cultural Affairs of the City Vienna and Unit F.
The collections of the winners will be presented in fashion shows.
A new award within the new category jewellery will be introduced on this evening as well: it is called "so fresh - jewellery award by Pierre Lang“ and will be awarded in 2006 for the first time.

The collection UO Ottakringer / Wendy&Jim will be presented as the last highlight during the Austrian Fashion Awards Night.
"Unten Ohne”, the design beer of Austrians brewery Ottakringer finds a high-fashion realisation in a collection by Wendy&Jim.
The silhouettes are tingly and new, the looks are strong and exhilarating. Opulent skirts, or are they dresses? produce an image which was never seen before. An unique collection with 17 strong looks. Avant-garde for the night.” (Wendy&Jim)
This collection was created for UO Ottakringer exclusively.
The Austrian Fashion Week 05 will be completed by the big UO Fashion Party.
22.-24.09.2005: Special Project: Absolut Label – “Famous Collection”
Kunsthalle Wien, MuseumsQuartier.
Absolut invited ten young designers last year to realise their ideas within the topic “T-Shirts” in the Absolut Label’s “Famous Collection”. This year the theme “Bags” follows. The work of the designers from ten different countries was interpreted by the Dutch photographer Elspeth Diederix – winner of the renowned Prix de Rome 2002 – and will be shown as photo works in the Kunsthalle Wien, MuseumsQuartier.
A temporary photo studio will be set up during the three show nights, in which visitors can be taken a photo with a bag of the “Famous Collection”.
